You've probably seen an ad for it before, but if you haven't, you can find the free offer for the knife here.

I thought the review on the knife itself appeared fair but found the points made on the marketing of it somewhat misguided.

Saturday night as you prepare for bed you notice a striking glow from outside your bedroom window. Looking outside you're pleasantly surprised by a brilliant yet gently shifting prism of colors lighting the sky - an aurora borealis.

Interesting how far south the "northern lights" are appearing lately. That's twice this week.

This makes your vote for Sheriff as critically important as your vote for President, Governor, Senator or Representative.

In today's anti-liberty, anti-gun climate, perhaps even more so.

That's because your local Sheriff may be your last lawful line of defense against unconstitutional laws enacted by Congress or your state legislature. Including those which infringe upon your Constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.

I've held off on this blog about the "gun control" debate for some time. But today I wish to open the subject by asking you a simple question: Do you love liberty?

Do these words from the Declaration of Independence stir your heart even today?

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Tell me, has liberty been reduced to an ancient ideal you give lip service to... an appeal to an archaic and nearly forgotten notion of a government run by free men, rather than men run by their government?

Or are you truly prepared to take any action needed to preserve liberty for yourself, your family and your posterity?

Surprises at the Preparedness Expo

EmptyChairsWhether you're a prepper, merely curious about prepping or a provider of the types of products and training folks like us are interested in - you owe it to yourself to attend a preparedness expo if one comes nearby.

Since we live in a northern New England state, these kinds of affairs come infrequently at best. In fact, I haven't seen one there yet!

That's why being in Tampa this weekend meant jumping out of bed extra early to drive two hours across the state with the family to attend the Life Changes Be Ready Preparedness Expo and Gun Expo in Deland, FL today.

Besides attending excellent presentations by well-known individuals including Lisa Bedford (Survival Mom) and James Rawles (of SurvivalBlog.com fame) and organizations like Project Appleseed (thanks Trey Dawson - your presentation was my boys' favorite) there were some notable pleasant surprises - and they weren't all from the classrooms.

In fact, I hadn't intended to blog about the Preparedness Expo at all, but I simply felt I needed to spread the word about two "surprises" I enjoyed today.
